Davey Waterson talks about ActiveRecord.js, an open source JavaScript library that implements the ActiveRecord data persistence and querying pattern popularized by (though not invented by) the Ruby on Rails community. Tom Robinson talks about server-side JavaScript using Jack and Roundabout.
